Chateau Montelena earned its place in wine history when its 1973 Chardonnay won the legendary 1976 Judgment of Paris, beating top French white Burgundies in a blind tasting that changed the wine world forever. The stone castle estate, built in 1882, sits at the base of Mount Saint Helena surrounded by Jade Lake and a serene Chinese garden. Today the winery is celebrated for powerful Cabernet Sauvignons and the estate Chardonnay that continues the legacy of that historic victory.
