
“Rocket scientist turned mountain winemaker”
Jeff Fontanella left a career as a rocket scientist (literally, at NASA) to pursue winemaking on Mount Veeder. The small estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay from volcanic soils at 1,100 feet. The wines are structured and intense, reflecting the mountain terroir. The tasting room is intimate, and Jeff is often on hand to talk about the intersection of science and winemaking.
